Surrealism
Surrealism was a cultural movement that began in the early 1920's, and is best known for its visual artworks and writings. The aim was to "resolve the previously contradictory conditions of dream and reality". Artists painted pictures to make people feel uncomfortable. Images were of scenes that don't make sense with photographic precision, created strange creatures from everyday objects and developed painting techniques that allowed the unconscious to express itself.
Salvador Dali
Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dali I Domenech was born at 8:45 on the morning of May 11, 1904 in the small agricultural town of Figueres, Spain. The son of a prosperous notary, Dali spent his boyhood in Figueres and at the family’s summer home in the coastal fishing village of Cadaques where his parents built his first studio. As an adult, he made his home with his wife Gala in nearby Port Lligat. Many of his paintings reflect his love of this area of Spain. Dali attended the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. Early recognition of Dali’s talent came with his first one-man show in Barcelona in 1925.
I like this picture because there are lots of bright colors and the picture is full of life. The artist has made this picture weird because they have used butterflies instead of a sail and it really looks nice because it gives the painting that weird and wonderful theme. The butterflies represent freedom because they have that colorful theme and they symbolise transformation.

I like this picture because it shows the landscape being cut up(by scissors it looks because of the sign in the middle of the road). I also like the tree that is hanging from the road. This is surreal as looks like it could be in dream or nightmare. The artist has used the rule of thirds and its slightly under exposed.

My plan is to take a picture of someone in a dark place and turn them into a vampire. I will do this by using Photoshop. I will find a pair of vampire teeth and red eyes and a couple more features then the Photoshop them onto a person. I will use a small depth of field, a sharp focus point and it will be straight on from the view point. The location will be under a stair case.
Final image
I like this picture because it shows the vampire theme. It shows the vampire theme by the fangs and red eyes. Also by the blood dripping. His skin is pale and the picture also has the black and white theme. I have looked at the idea of dreams and have used the nightmare idea.
Plan 2: I am going to use images from magazines to create images like Ben Heine. I will look for pictures of faces , animals and cars as they are used in Bens work. I will use a variety of locations in and out of school. I will need to think about perspective a lot with this idea.
These are my edits. I have used photoshop to make my edits look like Ben Heines. I have cropped my image, used the magnetic lasso tool to select the magazine. Which I then turned black and white and then added a sketch filter.
SHOOT 3
Evaluation
In this project I have looked at the work of Salvador Dali, Man Ray, Ben Heine and Erik Johanson. I have combined the work of some of these artists to make my own shoots. I have focused on depth of field, on the angles I take the pictures in and if the are from a worms or birds eye view. I have also made sure that the focal point is clear. I have also developed my Photoshop skills.
